@2ghg shortsighted approach by intel corrupt managers as explained to me a people manager will hire a 'salesperson' rather than an engineer

Stop with the there are no good US born engineering PhDs. We simply cost more than Intel is willing to pay. Much easier to keep an H1B as a wage slave

I interviewed dozens of job applicants at Intel in the 1990's and into the 2000's, over the phone and in person; wondering why the US had relatively so few native born engineers. They just didn't seem to be going to school and getting the degrees, so those that had the degrees got hired. It was still a good place to work, but it was also increasingly a foreign based workforce, as per high tech companies in general.

2025: Place in financial trouble

@1dwt Management destroyed the company through their DEI initiative.

As stated by @lui

" I know many managers that were forced by HR to hire and promote minorities to meet quotas, even after the manager pushed back on HR because the person was not qualified."

This is truth, I was there and experienced it myself. I also witnessed and reported many ethics and code of conduct violations by outsourced contractors, and absolutely NOTHING was done because the plan was to REPLACE BB employees with those contractors, and an upper level managers bonus depended on it.

Intel management is as corrupt as a politician, and I am glad to be out of that company.

DEI is truly the downfall. I know many managers that were forced by HR to hire and promote minorities to meet quotas, even after the manager pushed back on HR because the person was not qualified.
Another problem is the vast nepotism and corruption that Indians live by - if you hire one of them, you will end up with all of them.

Well, we left you a good company. I don't know what in the he-l you did to it, but I bet DEI is a big part of the problem. Old employee ID# 10524XXX. I remember when Intel was the place to be. Now it is the place to be away from. And you can thank us for doing all the hard sh-t by hand, as computing power was inadequate.

If you don’t like it, leave. Anyone who didn’t over hire during the pandemic is still hiring. If you have AI or RF skills (or both 🙂) there is plenty of work to be had.

If you can’t get interviews, the common denominator is you.

It's a job... it's not supposed to be your life. 2024 will likely be hard times in the job market. Lots of layoffs and most companies not hiring. Do a little research online, plenty of articles about what businesses are planning. Some good ideas would be to stop whining, start working so you don't lose the good job you have, and have a plan in case you do lose your job. It might su-k more to work at Intel now than in 1993 but it still su-ks a whole lot less than being unemployed.
