"Employees Who Stay In Companies Longer Than Two Years Get Paid 50% Less"

It's an oldie but a goodie. For those that take their advice may you get a great job offer and a package on the same day.

There’s been maybe one or two years of deflation since WW2. I’ll take that deal now and forever.

He may be that stupid, but there is a reality when a company hits bad times no one there wants to take a step back and that's what he should have pointed out.

At the end of the day none of this matters. Public companies in the US are legally required to operate only in the interests of their investors, not their customers or employees. Given that people get complacent when they become comfortable I'm not sure there is a better alternative. See the people here demanding to be paid a million dollars for being able to hang on and sc--w up for five years before being laid off.

I left as soon as it was apparent that they didn’t intend to keep me even with inflation despite saving them millions.

Why stick around if each year you’re earning less than the previous year?

I still remember when Chuck said “everyone wants a raise during inflationary periods but nobody would want to give it back during deflationary periods.”. What an a--hole. There’s been maybe one or two years of deflation since WW2. I’ll take that deal now and forever.

It’s really none of my business where someone chooses to work.

Having at different points in time been a customer, employer and investor of Cisco it is my business when others doing a bad job, which in software is most of you, demanding that they have lifetime employment and a big pile of money in the form of a retirement package. If these people would join reality and do a better job they, their peers, their customers and their shareholders would all benefit.

This site is incredibly toxic, and I think passing judgement like that on some you don’t even know is lazy.

The following will seem cold and heartless, but I think when people understand what the alternative is they'll realize a bit of tough love and keeping you on your feet will be better than the alternative.

You choose to stay be the Cisco loser, you deserve your low pay.

I didn't write the quote above but I am curious from the three who down voted this, what do you think is wrong about the actual analysis aside of the tone? If you are competitive in your field who to work for is a choice, and if you aren't your hanging on hoping to delay the inevitable when you should either become competitive in your current field or make a change in profession to become competitive in another.

Also, just because you're earning six digits doesn't mean you're owed a $10 cup of coffee at the beginning of every day. You need to manage both your wealth and your career because at the end of the day you are your only real advocate. Search for "homeless boomers" to see what happens to those who either don't or can't.

We work at the Chucky Cheese Restaurant. Deal with it. You work the registers. I wash the dishes.

This is so true it hurts. Just doing the basic math of inflation compared to my compensation is sad.

Loyalty is never a good thing these days. Same if you are a loyal customer of insurance, health, cell phone company and others. You always get treated better if you shop around and move your skills to another company regularly. Complaceny annd inertia get you a bad deal.
