Well, I finally took a closer look to the Bronco/Bronco Sport when I read this thread, since it seemed I could save some $$. TBH, after watching some videos and doing some research, I don't think I will be buying a Bronco (I am not an enthusiastic outdoor type, and is too noisy in the highways), nor a Bronco Sport (since the RAV4 has better quality for the same price).
Good, this means we have caught up to demand finally. There is no reason for a volume product like Bronco to be excluded from our discount plans.
Keywords being value and durability, which even with turbo 4Runner will be durable/value than bronco. Engineers there don’t have to deal with rolling layoffs every year like ford.
Bronco customers are unhappy with the wait time for vehicle orders, cancelation of trim levels on order and turned off by the major quality issues. One reason 4 Runners sales are up is because 2024 is now the last model year for the port injected V6. In 2025 the 6th Gen 4 Runner gets a 4 Cylinder TDI engine and everyone knows these are not durable engines in the long run and people want value.
Duh, the 4-runner is a toyota. The former big three do nit have the long range discipline to achieve toyota quality.
15 year old platform 4Runner that doesn’t even have blind spot monitoring on most trims outsold the bronco in 2023.
What does that tell you?
You can look it up, the order banks are empty for 2024
The problem is that now we're through the hyped, early adopter sales. 2024 is where the rubber meets the road. They obviously know something since they are scaling back production and opening them up for X-plan.
Jeep Wrangler sold just over 155k in 2023, so given the Wrangler had been in continuous production don’t think Bronco is doing all that bad.
Could it be better ? Yes. Should it be better? Given the difficulty of launch during pandemic plus the quality issues, not doing too bad. They could stimulate demand by coming out with more special models and lowering price by removing content to lower price a bit .
Next Ford will put them in Rental Car lots, sure sign of major distress.
Wow I thought planned volume was like 165K.
2021: 116,227
2022: 94,031
2023: 127,758
FYI, MAP just went down to 8 hour shifts. Another sign of weakening demand.
How many Bronco have Ford sold during the last 2 years?
