Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Does this scenario make sense?

LL6 and the whole group under failed to meet goals and LL6 and GSRs in the group get PR rated below target.

At conclusion of the year of fail, the LL6 miraculously gets promoted to LL5+. All the GSRs in the group retain the low performer below target rating.

The goal metrics data shows they failed plain and simple, what is the justification or explanation that the failure supervisor gets or can get promoted right after being rated low performer?

You would think the supervisor should at minimum have to try another year to prove they can at least meet target or preferably exceed target before getting a big promotion like that.....

@apob+1r0CN7Zd bingo! These people always think it’s the leaders who are to blame for not reaching their vision. GSRs are the ones following those performance goals yet blame leaders. No logic present.

My guess is that the team is not very good. The leader is far outpacing them and they simply can't keep up. The leader is promoted to lead people that can perform at the same level as they do. The previous team GSRs will likely be broken up and re-located to other teams, or they'll be offered PIP.

What doesn't really make sense about this is that you have insight into what everyone was rated. I don't think that should have been shared with anyone.

So it is possible or even the norm at Ford to get promoted even with a below target rating? What's the point of rating then?

It's Ford. Makes perfect sense in that context.

This is exactly what happens when you have too many CHIEFS and not enough INDIANS.

Too much management and besides not being of any value or competent, they are being misguided from the top.

I call mine the "JELLYFISH", absolutely no spine and no decision making ability.

Once upon a time in a good company the CEO warned the Manager. If the employees mess up again you are fired.

Note: The employees don't get fired, the Manager does.

If the mission fails the leader is the failure. The Marines know this.

Perhaps LL6 is a nepo kid with Ma or Pa in upper Ford management.

This is the norm here at Ford. The quality of management here is inferior to Toyota and Tesla.
