if you got laid off, just find a new one.

AWS is hiring, and they like white guys. Snap out of it. I got in an I am over 50. I had no former AWS experience, but you need to have skills. Reach out to your former colleagues who left Cisco and made it elsewhere.
Here's what worries me, how many of us in tech decided to buy a house over a million dollars? How many of us are living high on the hog and need an insane income to make monthly payments? How many received collateralized loans based on your now crumbling stock portfolio? How many of us on H1-b visas, are doing all of those aforementioned and will be losing their jobs?
The incoming crash is going to ripple to almost all sectors. Chance favors the prepared mind, not the encumbered. 2008 GFC will look like a cakewalk...
Are we going to see H1-B's leaving the US en masse?
Every other company is laying off in thousands. If you lose your job where to look for one? And for the ones that are still hiring what skill sets are the most in demand?
"just find another one". That's funny. Have you looked for a job lately? 400+ people applying for each opening.
Automatic RSU vesting after 55 only applies to the most recent grant once vesting has started. You’ll have to wait until November at the earliest, unless a special provision is made.
It's a little bit bigger deal than that. What if you are in your 50s, have lots of RSUs, they will vest 100% if you leave at 55, harder to find a job when older these days and if you're a white male. Heck and if you found a great group of people you work with and are making good money. Leave, gotta figure out retirement accounts, rollovers, etc.. there are lot more factors than just get a new job unless you're 21 and this is your first job.
