Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

High Cisco exec pay causing layoffs

Senior Directors make upward of 1M+ at Cisco. Not to mention these holes get deferred executive plans where they keep their RSUs and Cisco pays taxes of vested RSUs.
None of these fools driving the company into the mud are laid off. No wonder our stock price was 85 in 2000 and 50 now in 2024 - a quarter of a century later.

I would say Sr. directors make between 400-550k all in (base+bonus or commission+RSUs) not 1M

Yeah, they're the reason there isn't money for the worker bees. It's not like the software engineer staff that writes complete cr-p requiring most of the development budget to go to bug fixing. Imagine how much money would be freed up if people could write less buggy code.

As a company that can't do basic development and has required acquisitions for more than 30 years there is no way Cisco will be able to make the required reinvention with the current staff to avoid choking itself out which is how so many large companies before it fell from grace. Even if it could execute on a reinvention it doesn't mean they'll succeed in the market. Old giants rarely live forever.

As for the stock, the previous CEO took it from $82 down to just over $8, and it bobbed between the teens and mid-30s before settling at $25 in 2015. We can pretend Cisco could have entered markets like cloud where far better aligned companies haven't amounted to anything, or that it could have acquired other companies and integrated them perfectly, but it's not bloody likely. Without replacing Cisco's staff from the highest leaders to the bottom and replacing them with people Cisco can't hire Chuck has done about as good as I could have expected.

Some receive free housing or interest free mortgages. Cisco has been known to provide interest free mortgages as a relocation incentive.

Management titles are only temporary paycheck. Anyone capable doesn't want to be in a position manage other people's company and getting fired eventually.

SR directors don't get $1m pay.

Even they're getting $1m pay, it's none of your business. Again you don't own the company. Best thing is move on.
