Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

This cybersecurity “thing”

Not sure what to call this.. a sale, a spin off, a joint venture? Maybe more like a circus.

Most days they keep talking about “the buyer” and pretending AT&T isn’t a significant owner in this new “thing.” Amnesia? Why is AT&T so intent on washing their hands of an asset they will still have a huge vested interest in?

The sentiment is strong that this is the worst handled M&A transaction that any have experienced in their careers.

How many of you are looking for your plan B after the last 3 months of poor communication, partial answers, and stonewalling?

Over $600M in annual revenues says someone is certainly picking AT&T to do this for them.

And Gartner magic quadrants and ratings that say AT&T is in the top 5 globally by revenue.

I know about MSSP. I don't know why someone would consider AT&T as a competent MSSP vendor. Perhaps you should educate yourself on why people use MSSPs so you can understand why they are not picking AT&T to do it for them.

“I know about the cybersecurity department. It's based on a bad strategy. Gluing together a cybersecurity platform from multiple vendors, when the industry has evolved to the vendors selling their own suite of products for CASB, SASE, XDR, Endpoint, GRC etc.

Why would someone buy that platform fr AT&T instead of directly from the source? So they can work with an other layer of sales and support every time they need something? So they can eke out the minor edge of each best of breed product?”

You seem to be completely ignorant of a business operating model called “Managed Security Services Provider”. - suggest you educate yourself before posting nonsense like this

I was thinking of transferring/applying for a job with this new company just to get away from AT&T.

"AT&T has to wash its hand of this business unit because they have proved incapable of running it."

This is just ignorance. Just because you don't know about a dept that's existed for 10 years doesn't mean jack squat.

Mass exodus is about 3-4 weeks away. When they have push back the close another month and people see just how unprepared they are to function as a separate company. And the buyer starts cutting jobs anyway because he needs to start improving the bottom line from day 1.

My prediction: the transaction doesn’t close till April 30th but by then key people have already started to leave in droves, sales are plummeting, as AT&T sales people start diverting their opportunities to other “preferred providers” in the AT&T MSSP portfolio.

“ It's not rainbows and unicorns now, why would that change after the close?”

If they didn’t lipstick this pig initially, there would be a mass exodus.

AT&T has to wash its hand of this business unit because they have proved incapable of running it. Everyone outside of AT&T knows that the company is inept.

Now that doesn't mean AT&T is wrong about investing in cybersecurity. The company is smart about seeing upcoming trends. This is the best way for us to profit from the investment.

It will be rainbows and unicorns for 90 days until the “New Owner” unveils the track for future cost reductions. Do yourself a favor and don’t even begin to think about implementation, billing and support….

Will this new company require employees to move to a hub city?

I've seen a few cyber jobs in the new and horrible-to-use Workday career site. What's up with those, are they gonna be part of this mess?

Internal 3rd party theft should be addressed as the call center in jamaica steals customers information when an order is placed for services in the states. Customer places an order and then is called by bob marley and he just wants to " verify " the c/c # on file. Bob marley will have the customers order / ban, install time, package - everything to put the customer at ease. It's pretty sad that customer information is still available to 3rd parties or anyone with peeking eyes. The background checks or lack thereof for vendors is comical. Might as well hire houthis as a vendor now as long as they are woke.

This is an AT&T board. Your message should be posted on an external forum for the separate company.
