AT&T Cutting More in Midmarket, BAT and Global Mobilty

Solution Providers were given their new pay structure for this year and they are getting a big raise. Their commissions are increasing across the board, while we who actually work for the damn company are seeing quota increases and making less money than ever. The writing is more than just on the wall. It is written in large blinking LED letters. Time for me to start looking elsewhere because I know I will be cut in the coming months.

Dang sounds like someone should be worrying less about what are being paid and more on cold calling and making real sales. Phantom churn is your orgs speciality so none of this surprises me.

These segments are full of mobility SIM flipping. Existing data devices SIM being swapped with a new number, then waiting 30 days to disconnect the old number. All being counted as gross adds, it’s really gross fraud. Check for no usage lines reporting ( audits are) , absolutely laughable that people think they won’t get caught.. better save that money, they’ll be asking for it back after your gone.

Wireline sales rep here...been struggling to figure out why mobility exists. My group could just as easily sell it. I bet The axe will be swung in the next few months.

“Care to elaborate? “

It really needs no clarification, unless you’ve had your head in the sand. Sales integrity is at an all time low. Both Mobility and Wireline. Sales Managers and Directors are complicit. Anyone that would argue otherwise are probably the first they should audit.

"Good. AT&T sales employees are as dirty as it gets. Ridiculous scams in every group. Management always willing to turn a blind eye."

Care to elaborate? Who are the sales reps scamming? Our customers? Half of my co workers have been accused of committing fraud and we all know they are just trying to get people to quit. It is a shtty practice done by a shtty company.

"It’s really not cutting its more like reallocating….."
True, but they are cutting the internal sales teams every single month while allocating more resources to outside partners. Not sure how long most of us midmarket sales folks will be around. I happen to like my job and I have been approached by three different solution providers for a job. Just wondering if I should look at making the move or hanging on here.

The solution provider and authorized retailer have been in the transition playbook for the last 5 years. The cost of direct sales resources are 65%+/- more than the above. No benefits, far more rigorous sales inspection for fraud, lower real estate expense etc. The customer experience arguably can be impacted, but T has already taken that into the equation. There will always be direct sales resources, however they will likely only reside in the Fed Govt space in any significant numbers.
