Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Approximately 5,160 employees are impacted.

1-1s and team meeting invites are being sent out... Your managers have a 02/16 deadline to hand in talent assessments and/or PIP discussions. If impacted, starting 02/12 your work will be monitored (legally) until you're released. Severance package is not bad. Good luck in your next endeavor.

Several team members got a 1:1 for Thursday. No explanation, and unusual timing, so it's possible some invites are already going out.

So...when you are laid off do they actually expect you to work the notice period or not? I've heard it described both ways.

It probably depends on your manager, your role, and what you have left "to do". In my case (big LR 2020), I was not.

Where is this 5160 comes from? Seems rather low. We are bracing the market for the cut by pre-announcing to the news outlet. Must be a BIG numbre

1:1 meetings for layoffs are pre-loaded and are sent out after 2:00 am the day of the LR, so there is no point in checking your email for an invite the night before.

In regards to the talent assessment, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter what is due. It doesn’t matter if something is critical for customers or anyone else. Nothing is due from anyone that is LR’d. Remaining employees are asked to take on additional responsibilities.

Yes to all of these questions. Meetings may be scheduled already. Meeting invitations will be sent immediately following earnings or the following day. Most invitations come from the first line manager. In certain situations it may come from someone else. Managers receive invitations in the same manner. They may send an invitation for a 1:1 and receive their own. Same with 2nd and third line.

[Does anyone know if the 1:1 meetings have been setup or is all of that happening on Valentines Day after earnings ?
Are we expecting direct managers to set those up or 2nd line / 3rd line in some cases]

"Timeline doesn’t make sense… LR will be announced 2/14 while talent assessment deadline on 2/16….."

The list of who is going to be impacted on 2/14 was finalized weeks ago. The talent assessments which are to be submitted on 2/16 will be used for the second LR which is most likely going to happen the last week of July just before the end of FY24.

The ELT team is already signaling their intent to conduct an LR in July by telling you to use up x days of your PTO, just as they did prior to the next week's LR.

Talent assessments were announced during the all-hands as a new way of managing remote expectations months ago. There was email sent to the whole company about it. You're saying the whole thing was a cover?

Who cares, 50 red badges in my old group were gone about 3-4 weeks ago. Cisco isn't counting this number as layoffs. Why are you keep gaming when is your turn for them laying you off?

Performance reviews and talent assessments were already done over a month ago in engineering.

My understanding is next week will be the actual layoff.
