Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Orgs off payroll date?

Wave 2 for some groups on the relocation and others were tapped for a layoff. Any news about which org, numbers or dates yet?

Yeah, but NFL players are paid in the top 1% even those that sit on the bench...Duh

I agree about the spin offs and the sold company’s employees contributed to the overall number but not that much, the vast majority of those numbers were affected by layoffs, along with some attrition. People are being forced to make decisions and leave for various reasons because the company has put them in difficult situations along with the constant stress. That is planned to make employees quit or retire earlier.

I heard some people were cut today, last day on payroll is in the 60 day range. I don’t think these were related to any wave in Legg’s. Does anyone know anything about this?

who knew until recently that the head count has dropped over 120k the last 5 yrs.

This info is readily available in the quarterly reports published on the ATT investor site. People often quote numbers indicating large cuts when the fact tons of people left because they were included in spin-offs, parts of the business that were sold, as well as a couple years ago when the rising interest rate adversely impacted pensions. You probably also have to consider a lot left when T jacked around with the healthcare for those that did not retire by date x. We k know a lot have been surplussed, but it is difficult to determine how many. You have to also consider that T hires 30k+ people a year, primarily front line workers, where the turnover is extremely high. My point is, looking at the number in the financial statements does not give the full picture. Something I don’t understand is you will see as you look through these docs, the number of employees somehow gets adjusted, meaning the number seen on a year end report will not be the same number seen on the 1Q report the next year where it lists the previous years number.

Employees are posting layoff, relocations and RTO info. as it happens to them or their orgs. It’s the only way for most employees to know what is going on in other parts of the company. AT&T HR is great at compartmentalization, who knew until recently that the head count has dropped over 120k the last 5 yrs.

Pay increases were budgeted 3% to 4%. Still behind 2 year inflation rates.

Well.. someone posted the bonus percent (122%) several days before it was announced and that was right.
Someone also posted the annual pay increase (4%-5%).. which hasn't been announced yet, so we'll see if that information is any good.
