You should be looking for a new job every 2 years at the latest. Even if you're not especially looking to move. No one cares more about your future then you do and it is in the established order's best interest to keep you stagnant and performing within their guidelines. you are less of a number in an organization with a few hundred people or less (exceptions of course).

My loyalty is a direct correlation to the loyalty given to me.

I am loyal to the company and support our leadership every step of the way. It is interesting how much hate there is here in this forum for employees who support our leaders and the company's positive direction.

Of course, so my revised policy in this country is inflicting the highest damage I can to my employers, while protected by whistleblower laws (something I really appreciate this country)

So every time, I see injustice in the workplace (pregnant women being fired, racial discrimination, unequal pay, etc) I sue the company even on their behalf. I am propelled by hate and depending on how bad the employer is, it decides how powerful I am!

There is a literary myth, or maybe a fantasy, of the “noble prosti tute”. There is no loyalty there. It’s a cold financial transaction. Don’t get caught up in the myth. Your dealings with any employer that is not a relative or friend is as cold as the real-world trollop. There is no loyalty. It’s a cash transaction.

Back when I was a young pup, a professor in college told me “The amount of loyalty to your company is totally up to you. Don’t expect them to be loyal in return.” That was probably 40 years ago now. This professor was a retired manager from GM’s Frigidaire.

So, as it it written, there is nothing new under the sun.
