It’s called paying dues and building a career. Don’t worry, It only applies to productive people.
Enjoyment of my job, an interest in financial services, technology and a boomer work ethic always drove me. I can’t fathom why anyone would work in a place doing work which they hate.. the work day must seem like an eternity. I made all of my career moves when I saw or heard of someplace where I could do something even cooler to do. When you love something that you’re good at you’re inevitably going to do well.
“What color is my balloon?” Is an excellent book for those who hate their job AND have a work ethic.
@1eaj
Wrong! But thank you for your concern. Now maybe I will accept an overseas assignment that will be my launching pad to the MD role I am lining myself up for?
@1vck, you're more likely to have your job moved overseas.
Because someday they will realize just how much of an asset I am to the firm and I will finally earn the salary I deserve. So what if it takes another 15 years and my behavior causes me to be overweight, have diabetes, and heart problems. I am the model employee on the MD track.
If you actually enjoy technology, then you're at the wrong company.
Who said anything about hate? Conversely, if you commit your nights and weekends to senseless work, then what is it about your free time (i.e. Life) that you so hate?
Dedication and a work ethic. I enjoy Financial Services and Technology and have always been driven. I don’t understand why or how anyone would work at something that they hate.
Fear. Don't ever reach that point.
I'm not saying it's right, but sometimes it's better to check stuff when you're off so you don't have a big surprise the next day you're back. I know some people who don't bother to take vacations because they have no backup for their work and management won't support them. Easier said than done, but I wish I could care less.
Probably bills to pay. Don't make your health suffer. If things are too stressful, look for other opportunities or take a break if you can afford it.
