@3azm+1r4dpRsv. Nice try, but we all know people who have joined age discrimination lawsuits. Those that retired off their settlement have done just fine. They sued because their health benefits were taken away and pensions reduced by discriminatory practices. Those that continued working have also done well. There really isn't a stigma associated with having sued because all of Detroit knows Ford HR was unethical.
@1fbu+1r4dpRsv is spot on. Yes, you will win an age discrimination lawsuit battle. Precedent has been established. However, before suing - count what it will really cost you.
The hidden costs to win an age discrimination case include: you forever forfeit both your pension and medical coverage from f**d. Future employers will tag you with "sued former employer" (making new jobs harder to find). In addition, once that large settlement is awarded - all legal, court costs, and attorney fees became due immediately (which you have to pay).
Once those bills are paid, whats left amounts to appx 1/3 of the original awarded settlement. That amount is all you have for the next 25 years or so to support your family. Was it worth it? A better question is - is the $$$ left over from the award settlement - larger then my forfeited pension? My guess is no.
So congratulations, you may have won the age discrimination battle - but did you really? To me its the attorneys who really won the war.
There is the written law and then what actually happens. All of us can see dozens of law violators every day on the road esp. if you drive on the freeway. Some of them are going to ki-l people. Nobody cares.
Trolls for Ford HR and management will try to convince you the age discrimination is hard to prove, and only the lawyers have made out. The truth is that people that joined lawsuits over the layoffs of the last several years have gotten substantial settlements, because there is a trail of evidence regarding a discriminatory agenda.
Old man yells at clouds
I would suggest you sue them to bring their acts back into compliance.
But the issue is, Ford has learned to hire younger kids to fire, evening out the age pool. Not many companies reach this far.
The red zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the white zone.
This is clear, but laws are selectively applied these days.
"The law also prohibits hiring based on race, but allows “affirmative action.”
So much for the laws helping you."
the "law" is fungible
it depends on who is holding the purse strings
Most lawyers will tell you they can prove it. Will take lots of billable hours whether they do or not. You might get a moral victory, while the lawyer puts an addition on their cottage.
@awv+1r4dpRsv. It isn't that hard to prove, since Ford has a record of having done so repeatedly.
And ur point is? This is a useless post.
Age discrimination happens all the time.
Good luck with proving you were fired based on age.
