Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Email or 1:1

I’m new to this LR drama. Does this happen via email or 1:1 tomorrow? Lots of speculations and would be great if someone shed some light on the process. #worried2kkid@cisco

It really depends on the extent of cuts for a given group. There have been layoff’s prior where the manager reads a script to many people over a video conference and then directs people to a contact in human resources for questions… This is a horribly inhumane way to do things, but it has happened before at Cisco.

My experience: got a sudden out of the blue 1:1 request in the morning for a noon meeting

Mine was: Got a sudden 1:1 request at 14:00 for a meeting at 16:00. (2020)

It is never supposed to be over email or a webex message. Always 1-1 Webex meeting.

Look for the 15 min dreaded 1:1 calendar emergency meeting with your manager on Thursday. They need to speak to you urgently "about something"

Will be a random 1:1 meet that appears a few days before, over which the manager is very evasive (they have to be / are told to be due to legalities).

And if the invite comes from someone other than your line manager, in all likelihood they are impacted too.

It will be over 1:1. Not merely e-mail.
My experience: got a sudden out of the blue 1:1 request in the morning for a noon meeting haha.
