Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I was LRed and may want to exit early for an opportunity before April 15th, is it possible to get an earlier exit date & the separation package?

The leader material says specifically that you are NOT expected to work. It’s not “up to the manager”

Read the separation agreement. I was in the Covid LR and that package specifically stated that you were expected to keep working. That said, many managers told their impacted folks that they had no expectation that they’d be working, told co-workers to not bother them so that they could focus on internal and external opportunities. Really depends on your mgr but easy to fade away.

Once LR'd your not supposed to do work at Cisco. Your job is to find a new job. Take a new job you're a lame duck who's going to know. It might make sense to take the later package. It depends on the math. You can contribute to your 401K and get a good match. If it's a better match max it out at Cisco then focus on the new 401K next year.

You can take the new gig and double dip. You do no work from here on out. Make it work for
You.

It's not illegal to have to jobs at the same time, just do it quietly. If you have to, work for the new gig for free until Apr 15th - call it an internship, whatever. Perhaps you can get compensated via extra PTO, stock, or something.

I was LR'd end of 2020, and based on what I was told and have heard from others before and after me, if you leave early you might lose out on the package... the next two months you're not expected to work anyways, so if you really want the new opportunity, you can join and keep it hush till Apr 15th (if possible)
