APLA Announcement

As part of Nike’s strategy to drive bold growth and deliver with speed and at scale, we will be combining two of our territories, Central and South America (CaSA) and Mexico, to form a new, single APLA territory – Latin America, or LatAm – effective Q1 FY25.

…the creation of a new LatAm territory is a positive change, one that’s exciting for both the future of our geo and Nike!

Anyone know how this was announced? I didn't get an email.

I wonder what this will do job wise because they didn’t elaborate on roles, this will basically mean positions are either being consolidated because you don’t need a double of everything or roles are being placed in territory which they do deserve. But with everyone in distribution model there are no territory roles, everything is still housed in Oregon. Unfortunately this just seems like they’re moving even more toward uniformity for Latin America, which is easy for Nike but terrible for the consumer. Too many countries to have one offense for all of them.

OH wow, the big move forward is going back to where we were 10 years ago. Now moving things back in the geo is never bad.

"The Company's operating segments include North America; Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA); Greater China; and Asia Pacific & Latin America (APLA)."

APLA was already there. What am I missing?

New HQ in Mexico City, Mexico. All operations moving to new HQ. Tough news. Feel bad for people who have deep roots in Oregon.

This change does make sense. Nike has exited from Central and South America markets shifting to a distributor model in the last year and CaSa team was managing that from WHQ. So, there’s definitely synergy and efficiencies you can get from operating one LatAm organization.

I mean my boss managed the region for another company and we split it because it was impossible to lead with one person and have them be at all effective with their team so, you can go fu-k yourself and learn some grace since you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. That low EQ you have I’m guessing got you put on the chopping block and that’s why you’re feeling it so hard this evening?

Heyy @qio+1r5dDV0d, what’s got you upset? About following what other big corps do, do you think we should also combine all the APAC territories? I haven't seen any companies that have AP/LA as one region or geo, whatever they call it

Those opposing this are f*g mo--ns. Most major corps operate like this. 12 hour flight…you fg r****d. Like that matters. You are the reason AI will take over. You prove people are too stupid.

That’s a great theory and incredibly difficult in reality. Mexico, Central, and South American is a huge territory with vastly different cultures, preferences, and incredible distances between them to travel.

Sounds like a great idea until you have to fly 12 hours each way to connect with a local market.
