Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Dead Weight

It's liberating to see the company shedding all the dead weight. It's my guess there will be some top execs on the chopping block soon. Pure incompetence to unneccesarily carry so many extra unneeded employees.

I want to be surplussed and laid off.

I do too but they won't give me a package since there so many non-hub workers to get rid of first. So I'll just continue to be dead weight and collect my paycheck every month.

Speaking of dead weight. Don’t forget to always po-p on the clock. Just 15 minutes a day adds up to an extra week of vacation every year.

No need, Infor will allow us to reclaim the hours that AT&T has been stealing from us for a very long time.

The wasted $$ is on the levels of grossly overpaid, sycophant toadies. The same st00ges who lord over their little fiefdoms & strive to protect their kingdoms…at any co$t(s).

only an att employee would come to a layoff site and say they are glad people are losing their job.

don't worry your time will come because the only people I see they are getting rid are the ones doing the work.

att sure has great employees glad I don't buy any of their services and I tell people to run if they are thinking of working there.

what a cesspool

There used to be 2 to 5 techs in a Central Office, now there is 1 tech for 5 or 6 Central Offices... when you consider travel time to cover multiple locations...

When the company doesn't care I don't care.
Let those outage durations increment until the PUCs and FCC step in.

Cutting all building maintenance and cleaning was a wise move. Money saved. Now wipe yourself with your hand peasant

I endorse the cuts of building maintenance, I really do. CRE won't fix the lighting unless it is attached to the concrete roof (mostly useless) and there is no "budget" (SURPRISE!!) to repair the lighting around the work area frame.
If I ever get dinged for a quality defect, all I need do is have my manager show me what I did wrong. Once he produces a flashlight to show me, I've got him. That will get shut down real quick.
God Bless AT&T and the massive incompetency that is BAU.

They are paid to make the "hard" decisions.
Unfortunately they are "hardly" right.

The more dead weight we drop the lower the stock price for some reason.

That's because Stankey can cut several hundred million in salaries but will still have over 135 BILLION in debt.
Consider this, you are the Captain of the Titanic and you ignored ALL of the iceberg warnings and now find yourself with a mortally wounded ship.
You may try to throw off all of the deck chairs, all of the exercise equipment from the 1st class deck, all of the porcelain dishware and commanded all of the passengers to toss over their steamer trunks (employee benefits) to lighten the ships load.
Guess what. That ship still never made it to New York.
It rests 2 miles deep on the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean.

Current events within AT&T would suggest otherwise.
Good luck with your RTO and remember to "LIVE YOUR DESTINATION".

I've been here 20+ years and have heard the same complaints, budget, budget, budget. There used to be 2 to 5 techs in a Central Office, now there is 1 tech for 5 or 6 Central Offices. Yet, what do we hear? Budget, budget budget. Not very original. My 1st line has 3 times the territory as he did 5 years ago, our second line has almost an entire State. Same tired complaint, budget, budget, budget.
Understandably the CO techs are still only as busy as they were when they had 1 or 2 coworkers to share the work, but when you consider travel time to cover multiple locations, the tired complaint of budget, budget, budget is just that, very tiresome. No one cares anyone because there is nothing we can do to correct the mortal wound that "leadership" has inflicted on this once great company.
This is what the "leadership" of Randell and Stankey have given us through their wise vision of buy high and sell low. The "leadership" sycophants cannot defend this anymore, as amusing as it is when they try.

The last time an executive was surplussed was when SBC bought AT&T. Don't expect them to do it anytime soon.
