Was laid off from one Triangle tech company. Went through 4 interviews with Cisco. All extremely positive. Did not hear back for 4 weeks. When finally offered, they said the position had to be move to a contractor position because they just did layoffs. I accepted so we could protect assets while looking for a real job. The night before I was suppose to start, I got a dream offer. I actually got emails from the managers at Cisco for wasting their time interviewing. I can assure you because of my age and ethnicity, I would have been part of the layoffs since that time. Instead I am in an extremely stable job, growth, and path to retirement without any mental stress.
