Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

What does all of this mean for ETWs?

If we report to middle management and they’re terminated. Who lets us know our contracts have ended or we’ve been let go as well?

Realizing it’s completely different for ETWs than FTEs but we’re nervous about losing our jobs too. Anyone have experience with this?

Don’t get your hopes up to be converted to FTE if that’s what you’re thinking

Former ETW here during 2020 mass layoffs. My direct manager was affected in layoffs and another manager on the team told me. However my contract wasn’t affected just because my direct manager was let go, and I continued on with someone else stepping in, so it’s possible that your contract may not be affected. Multiple contract renewals I had to wait down to the day before to get the official extension. Usually if you’re not extended they would tell you weeks in advance. Just my experience but sending all the best to you OP.

this happened to me previously.

if you're employed by a 3rd party agency as a W2 employee, your direct employer will inform you if your contract has been ended. and trust me, they will be quick to do so, since they won't be able to bill nike for your time and make their happy little markup on top of it.

if you're a 1099 contractor - that's a whole other situation but hopefully you have a signed contract or work order that communicates what happens and how you would be notified in a timely manner, in case of termination of the contract. if not, i suggest you get clarification in writing as soon as possible.

Same thing it always does bestie. As long as we’re cheap, we stay.

I was told there are a ton of ETW roles about to hit the market , so it probably means more of you and contract extensions
