According to Paid Leave Oregon - “When you come back, you must be returned to your former job or a similar position if your old job no longer exists.”
Regardless, according to the FMLA link posted by a previous commenter (which is separate from Paid Leave Oregon), the burden of proof is on Nike. They’d have to prove that your medical leave has no relevance to the termination of your employment. If your entire team is nixed, that would be difficult to do. If you’re singled out, who knows. If it happens, don’t sign anything and consult with an attorney rather than those of us who aren’t legal professionals. Companies will do illegal things and hope you don’t fully understand your rights. We know this.

@uja not during a RIF, read the FMLA
If you’re laid off while on leave, don’t sign any severance package before consulting with an attorney. You sign away your rights and thats where most people get sc--wed.
I’m on medical leave too. It is protected. By law if they eliminate your position during layoffs, they have to put you in a similar role of equal status and pay.
I heard about someone on his way to his dads funeral. Also pregnant friends. Doesn’t matter
I knew someone in the middle of sabbatical, hiking on Mt Hood, and was contacted by their manager. There is no "safety zone" if you are targeted.
There is no leave protected from layoffs, even medical leave
Yes they can and they have done it in the other lay offs. Your boss may contact you and tell you to prioritize the meeting.
I don’t think any leave is protected because this is a reduction in force (layoff). Not sure how they would contact you.
Nah, MM will just show up at your house.
I believe it depends if it a protected leave, but maternity and paternity isn’t protected.
