There was a meeting a while ago where they said a female Engineer is so rare type, that they would never lay off one no matter what.
Guess what? I'm G11 female Engineer, who was laid off today, being a high performer for 6+ years. Lol.

OP - what meeting was that where they talked about female engineers can't be let go ?
I know some extremely talented female engineers I work with. But I also know many who are absolutely incompetent in their roles. But I also know many men in the same incompetent boat. Talk goes a long way and complaining about others goes a long way here. Both men and women are really good at that in Security org and they know that
Cisco has always kept some incompetent people so it's not all about performance. Cisco has always kept some highly paid people so it's not all about price. They do pay a role but politics and just being in the wrong team and the wrong time are also significant components of these decisions.
Since when has this NOT been the case?
Since about 2014 I'd say, it USED to be about performance. But now it's about $$ but the ELT cannot say that, since it would be constructive discrimination, as the axe would affect the most senior people, and thus the older, and therefore be UNLAWFUL.
So, they dress it up in a narrative such as the very awkward story from 2023, that it was about "reallocating resources onto priority areas".
Don't bring around your misogyny here.
See? You cannot comment on anything about women as a group without the M word. Just proves what I say about DEI hires, very hard to criticize, let alone fire them. But with mass redundancies like this, they have to lay off a few token minorities, women and young people, but otherwise it's UNLAWFUL. ILLEGAL under US law. So, they throw a few under the bus to cover for the real focus, which is older, more expensive people (of all shades).
Yes, I know 4 women who were laid off.
Don't bring around your misogyny here.
"This round was definitely NOT about performance. It was about saving money."

This round was definitely NOT about performance. It was about saving money.
Women are always included because they have to balance demographics on paper. LR’s are not a reflection of talent. What you bring to the table does not matter any more or less than what you don’t bring.
Hey, I got LR too. Work very hard even in year end shutdown time. Got good review every year , old guy , high grade. I admit I am still not recovering
I saw a very good suggestion is to honor/memorize us LR-ed-ers with silently off duty next week. How about that ?
Many females were cut in this round. The biggest target was those that have been around a while and/or were senior that had large stock packages the company could recoup.
The good news is I haven't seen that gender, race, or religion make any difference. Older folks and people with lots of stock options, however, are at a high risk.
Yes. Are you wondering if you’re the only female laid off? Or wanting to network, by finding people on the lay off page? Probably better places.
Very sorry to hear. Hopefully you are not in the Cisco UKI org. If so, then I probably know you and even more sorry that this happened! They don’t deserve you!
