Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Layoffs are part of life at Cisco, you asked for layoffs the minute you signed up for it

The only problem is don't go out there having this propaganda "we are Cisco, we are #1 place to work". Bottom line is Cisco is a dying company. Why these people would even want to believe Cisco is the number place to work is their problem, that's why they're workers, not too smart people working for Cisco.

Cisco died long ago when MBAs took over from the engineers that ran it from the start. That was around the so-called "dotcom" crash.

Cisco stole its first product from Stanford and supposedly they didn't even remove the copyright notices. It's first CEO Bill Graves served from 1987 to 1988 who had an undergrad and PhD in physics. It's second and third CEOs, John Morgridge and John Chambers were both business undergrads and MBAs covering 1988 to 2015 Chambers also has a JD. Significant acquisitions started in 1992 which largely define the company to this day. Notice the lack of engineering degrees and the shift to MBAs 13 years before you think Cisco's die was cast.

Cisco has "managed out" the "bottom 5%" every year as long I have known it. This is nothing new. And everytime a layoff makes the news, the same comments appear in "the layoff". Life is good once you slip the golden handcuffs.

I have to agree with the OP on this one. If you've worked at Cisco before, give yourself a good slap if you ever consider returning.

Thanks for calling the latest action a "layoff" rather than the oh-so-sanitized "LR." It boggles the mind that the term "LR" is still in regular use at Cisco after a decade or more of such actions. Talk about gaslighting.

Cisco “pays” for that. # 1 - please!
