"I want hourly employees to step on the scale and to clock their time. I want them to be in shape and on time. Evidently that’s too much to ask."

If you are in a management then enforce those guidelines. If you have no direct reports quit being a salty, jealous b.

“There are no layoffs. There are only people being told to uproot their entire existence or "choose not to work here". Remember?”

That’s actually not true. Legg’s org is undergoing an additional layoff not related to the ‘waves’.

Union work is systematically being moved to vendors, contractors and authorized agents. This isn’t anything new. As contracts expire the work will move. Yes, there will always be union work as long as you’re part of T, but as you see pieces of the business sold or decommissioned those jobs will never come back.

"There are a lot of bargained for employees that have no work to do each day and are still getting paid, yet most of the layoffs are coming from the management side of the business. It's definitely time to start looking at the work loads or lack thereof on the union side of the house!"

Awwww. Hurt feelings no doubt.

There's a lot of work to do. The company just doesn't want us doing the work because they are abandoning "legacy" customers.

There are employees who have more work and responsibilities than they can possibly keep up with and there are employees with literally no work. There is a surplus of employees (primarily non-management) who have yet to be impacted by job cuts and if we’re being honest and prudent, it’s time to evaluate and adjust that section of the business.

Just show me the money and I'll leave.

yeah there are about 100 technician job listings mainly in the states where they won BEAD money.

there are a lot more tech jobs. if you get a little education in technology most of those job listings are $150-250k, but then again, an art or water polo degree will suffice.

Actually layoffs will be backfilled with vendors located in Mexico. Hired and in training for past month now.

Senior Leadership has already made it clear, crystal clear, that the default position following attrition of the workforce, both Mgmt and Technician, is to NOT backfill. Any reqs put forward must be substantiated and approved at the VP level and I can tell you this, it’s not easy to make a case for the need to backfill. They’re ok with allowing the ranks to attrit. Good luck to those who remain, you’ll have a lot on your plate.

Hate to bust your glass half empty bubble but there are some reqs for outside positions. The majority of the layoffs and attrition in the core bargained ranks has already happened over the last several years. There will be some force in balance for areas that need readjustment, other than that basically status quo. Sales, mobility, retail stores will have more changes and layoffs in the near future.

Management is where most of the layoffs and forced relocation options have happened for the last few years. The bill has come due for all the poor decision’s by leadership. Unfortunately, there is still a ways to go before they realize they have cut too deep and contracted out their knowledge base.

The goal is to be less than 100k total employees by EOY 25. So 20k per year for the next 2 years, would need to cut 5k per quarter. Fun time for all.

Nearly the entire B2B sales force is in the process of being outsourced. The bloodbath hasn't even really started yet.

“ 40 + years seniority type that have the entitlement attitude.”.

No doubt we have people who still want to believe the telco industry hasn’t changed from the Zane Barnes era but on the other side we also have younger workers who believe they have the right to dictate company policy. Entitlement is ageless.

The third full week of every month there’s a pre-scheduled layoff week. Usually the 19th through the 22nd depending on what day of the week falls on.

More like the needed 20 to 40 percent. We'd rather younger better motivated and rid our culture of the 40 + years seniority type that have the entitlement attitude. If baldy won't make the call we could open a new chapter and clean the ranks of fat Grey broken lards that sit around and complain.
