VP reporting to VP reporting to VP

Not sure if there is any other organization in the world where a VP reports to a VP who reports to a VP. Full picture - SD to SD to VP to VP to VP.

It’s that upper echelon where it gets messy…our Dept is lean below VP, 1 SDR, we had 2 DRs, but it’s now 1, with 40 or so reporting up to them, about 50% of those are ETWs (analyst/mgr/sr mgr)- cutting staff at this level seems pointless to me - you avoid severance but just have to hire & train newbies when E2E dependencies on that team hits the fan and brings WIP to a halt

@1vqc, your numbers seem a bit off from reality

also go and check how many DR, SR DR with just no reportees also.

you will find many many. In my definition

manager should have min-5 reportees
sr manager min 15-20
director min 40-50
sr director min 100. then the VP layer should start. Then only it called lean organization.

Not in this case. SVPs and EVPs are usually called as such.

It’s really a VP reporting to an SVP reporting to an EVP, but we call them all VPs. They’re different grades and were different levels - E7 vs E6 vs E5 etc
