Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco, I will always love you, but it is time to wake up

Start inventing internally instead of making acquisitions. When you works at Cisco you always think Cisco is the best. I thought the same when I was at Cisco.

Few months after I left I realized how naive I had been. Who wants to buy an eight port 1G switch for $2500 or $1800 for an AP? On top of it you are expected to pay for subscription. This is just a simple example. Take a look at the competition and do some comparisons yourself and you know what I am talking about.

Cisco, I will always love you, but it is time to wake up.

Yours sincerely,
Cisco alum

I didn't. In my first 10 minutes there the HR mass introduction made it clear I had joined a cult. Hint: you're no longer the most valuable company on earth and you never hired only the top 10%.

Take a look at the competition and do some comparisons yourself and you know what I am talking about.

Arista, HPE's Aruba arm and Juniper are all around 10% of Cisco's revenues and the latter two have only a tiny fraction of Cisco's operating margins. For lower end projects where I needed access switches with high touch services Cisco won the bids. I never loved Cisco as an employee or a customer but they still have nearly half of many markets because those competitors still have very real problems.

Cisco's bipolar were wrong when they saw Cisco as perfect and are wrong when they see Cisco as a complete failure. In markets with equal competitors and far lower margins Cisco would have died a long time ago, but that's not the market they were or are in.

There’s just no way for Cisco to lower its prices because Wall Street would massacre the stock price. You can’t shrink margins that much.

Go beyond this
You have highly paid specialists ki-l customers with 100 page slides non relevant information

Go back to basics
Show partners and customers love
Yes it's a blue chip fortune 500
No it is not enough to win business anymore

You are spot on. Great company. Cisco needs to simplify licensing. Adjust discounts to its partners and give them volume backend dollars..
