Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Some analysts seem to have faith in IBM

Where Will IBM Stock Be in 5 Years?

  • IBM has prioritized capitalizing on the growth of the worldwide hybrid cloud computing market.
  • The company’s new business model is monetizing every aspect of what customers need once they adopt an IBM cloud or AI computing platform.
  • IBM’s cash-flow growth is much greater than its overall sales growth.

Analysts' jobs are to pump up the bags of bigfund bagholders so they can dump on retail. Only a fool would hold IBM long-term.

1aqp The rest of the company will be packaged via the govt and sold to a USA company (hello google, Amazon, or oracle) There are reasons each may be the buyer
Google = their cloud has stalled and they want to grow IBM does that for them There is the possibility Power and storage go to Google and IBM keeps mainframe
Amazon = they have a good relationship with IBM and don’t compete Enterprise would fit nicely
Oracle = Their solutions compliment IBM, and if they owned IBM, they would deter SAP

IBM will be an interesting case study about missed opportunities in 10 years in college business curriculums. Just like HP, Sun Microsystems, Digital Equipment Corporation.

This company is dead. No chance it survives within 10 years.

TCS may buy what is left of IBM Consulting, but the rest of the company will most likely be nationalized by the US Government. As sc--wed up as it is, the technology portfolio makes it a TBTF company. What happens at that point is anybody's guess.
