My brother keep trying to get me to come there, but the salary just isn’t enough unless you upgrade your position as well.

Sure, if that's where you want to live, plus there are a lot of companies hiring in Dallas for when ATT lays you off.

salary bump from n2 to n3 is not going to be mucho dinero, it'll take a few years to earn back cost of move, unless you're already near Dallas

What is the level change and salary increase? It may be good for immediate career advancement, but may be more hassle down the road if and when you decide to have a family and settle down.

I think you should move to Dallas with the understanding that they might/could fire you anyway.

You should probably go if you are trying to get a promotion, and the organization you are in is primarily in Dallas (Acctg/Fin, HR, etc). If your organization has a strong hold in the city you are currently in then I would not move. Moving to Dallas does not guarantee a raise or a promotion.

I wouldn’t. They are surprising people in Dallas and everywhere. Combining to one market in areas. It doesn’t matter if you perform and top of the nation, those things don’t matter anymore. It’s who you know and who likes you.

Why not? What have you got to lose? Sounds like if you move and then get laid off, it’s no big deal. Go for it, but let the buyer beware.

There’s a reason it’s cheaper to live in Texas. You get what you pay for.

You may like it.

Absolutely move if you want to continue working for AT&T.

Always keep an emergency fund available.

I know a few just like you that made the move who are now unemployed. Besides traffic worse than Atlanta and no parking for employees please help us understand why you think any USA employee will stay employed with our outsourcing everything company? Lol and be promoted!

Leveling up. That is comical. Someone, non bargained, who fancies themself as important is enjoying a good supply of wine this evening. I'm not mad at you. I wish I had the liberty to do so.

Maybe if you quit wearing your hair bun and man dress you’ll do okay. You won’t be in millennial Kansas anymore,

In your position I would. There are a lot more opportunities in big D than other parts of the country.
Let’s say you move and get surplused next year. The chance you’ll find something as good or better is very high in Dallas compare to other metro areas. It doesn’t matter the field, jobs are plentiful in Dallas.

My stage in life it's a no go. But other people have different situations. You do whats right for you.

Lots of self confidence here! You really believe just moving to Dallas will level you up? Sorry, but Stanley is aggressively cutting the GM community. There aren’t going to be many L3 or L4 positions, and those that are showing open will be filled by existing GM. You won’t “level up,” sorry to break it to you.

I hate this place, have zero confidence in leadership and hate Texas and I'd say take the job to anyone with your situation. There will be long-term jobs at corporate & some day Stankey will be gone and things may improve. Sounds like you're going to get paid - even if they lay you off some day, you'll be in a position to set yourself somewhere else if you have to.

Highly depends where you currently live. There are plenty of cities with tons of opportunity, and Texas ain't one of them. Following the T would be following a dead end.

Also, you're probably going to remain single in Dallas. Texas isn't exactly friendly towards women, especially with the fu---n' cripple in charge.

Imagine living in a shithole where your wife can't get life saving surgery because all of the doctors are scared of legal action.
