Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What they don’t tell you about NSI

  1. If you are NSI there will be no raise
  2. If you are NSI 3 out of 5 years you are gone pecan
  3. There is zero pressure on supervisors to fail people on PIP. Really. I mean it. No one follows up or checks. It is 100% up to the supervisor if you pass or fail. This is probably the most shocking part but it is 100% true I swear.
  4. It is ultra rare to recover from NSI but does happen. Usually if you are NSI you are honestly perceived as the person it would be easiest to lose from the team. Don’t interpret this as you are a bad worker as that is totally different.

5 if you are young and are NSI the best thing you can do is start looking for something better and try starting over at another company. More things to consider if you are older.

  1. It's not just NSI that doesn't get a raise. Could be all the way up into excellent and still not receive any adjustment.

The younger folks (who are not experiencing the thinly veiled age discrimination that is NSI) are currently being VERY well compensated in the USA. Much more money than they can get in an equivalent role elsewhere. They need to keep those folks around for a bit while they eliminate all technical career paths in the USA. The issue they will face is in a few years they will come for those same, now older, folks and run them out on a rail in mid-career.

The young folks really need to get out NOW if they are in the USA. I certainly actively discourage young engineers from considering working for EM. The place is a sh?$show and I cannot in good conscience recommend EM as an employer.

Its mostly age discrimination. Used to get rid of old folk. Job performance means nothing as most ranking groups do not even consist of same or similiar job functions.

The nsi is fine, someone’s got to be bottom. The problem is the gaslighting that goes with it, the lies spun to support this predicament. Then the person who is nsid has to lick ar-e and bend over to recover… otherwise it’s taken as a affront and not a good attitude…

This is very poor culture… Nsi is not there to help improve performance at all as performance didn’t need improvin in the first place in most cases

Point 5 is why even young people who are doing well or those in their 40s should seriously consider other options. Too many examples of people in their 50s and 60s being blindsided by NSI after decades of high rankings.
