As a former employee impacted by the February 2024 Cisco LR, I can offer this to the individuals that will be let go in the upcoming LR.

Cisco leaders do not care for the individuals they employ.
Regardless of the corporate Cisco stance that states otherwise, anyone in the organization below VP level is a number on a spreadsheet.

Cisco’s systemic deprecation of quality employees falls in line with the Cisco practice of deprecating good product for sub-standard acquisition offerings that are now peddled.

When this upcoming LR happens
and you find yourself in a similar situation to the 13k+ people who came before you in these last 16 months; don’t take it personally.
Initially it will hit hard. The bright side is the fog will lift and the surge of convoluted emotions will pass. Seize the opportunity to create a new chapter or path for yourself. From recent experience, it will be worth it.

From CX and PX they can cut 50%, useless engineering managers and directors not adding any value to Cisco but cut a big check

The Layoffs will continue (until morale improves).

How do they expect anyone to give a sh-t or do something extra when the last layoff chopped top performers involved in valuable projects?

I see so many bots left. The writing is on the wall that at the very least, Cisco will drastically downsize. And if they do that and support quality degrades like it has been, and they keep starving engineering to the point many releases have outright nasty bugs or show stoppers, then finally the company will die and someone like artista will take over.

My entire career at Cisco has felt like battling management to get paid what I deserve and then to prove that I’m not fu--ing off all day…while there are other people who really do fu-k off much worse, and yet they aren’t scrutinized…

I use my PTO and benefits for mental health they hate that and have been retaliating ever since… it’s like I have to constantly fight to get what the company preaches itself as? And then when you make them delivery they just target you insidiously…

Too much politics at work. I don’t give a sh-t about anyone’s views but because mine are not the norm the whole company feels hostile, but none of this effects how I support and deliver to customers besides zapping morale…

I’ve literally sent huge emails to management expressing desire to grow, ideas on what’s wrong in CX…. Been called all kinds of things from entitled millennial to an abuser of Cisco policy…

Meanwhile there’s motherfu-kers hiding in their WebEx alone to avoid the sevs…

And they wonder why the attitude is log em in, do what you can, log them out.

An LR per quarter. So the next one should be in May.
Don't rush. There will be more LR's to come. That's for sure.

Previous LR was before Xmas then 2/15. Quarterly is the new normal. May 15 makes much sense. Another huge one for Splunk in couple of years.
