Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoffs happening this week!

I hear layoffs happening every 3rd full week of the month until they hit their target number. Notices supposedly go out on Thursday, then you get 2 weeks before you're out, so April 4th? I'm on that surplus list so I may be gone this week, or be given my 2 weeks notice anyway.
Does anyone else have any information?

"Management not located in one of the hubs has already been advised to start looking outside the company or retirement by their Leadership."

False - I've been told we are safe. I don't believe it but that is what they've claimed.

“ sign up for relief funds and apply for assistance.“

How much money does this come out to?

"If there's a strike, all replacement workers, no matter who they are, should be treated as scabs and thus dealt with accordingly."

That's not right. They are NOT scabs. They are forced to do these jobs that they all know they are not qualified to do and NONE of them want to be there. Unfortunately, if they don't show up, they are threatened with TERMINATION. We all know that none of them are truly replacing striking union workers. You can't replace someone with years of experience with a manager who took a list of online or in-person courses. We all know it. Give them a break.

Level 2 and above don’t do any real work or know how to. My manager does not even know who works for her. It’s so sad and stupid.

Almost 17 days until D9 contract expires. Not going to be pretty, the company labor team won’t bargain, only keeps talking about regression in benefits. They are also denying any union proposals put forth, 0 out of 34, classic case of acting in bad faith.

Time to walk soon, Union members can go to their local or the district 9 site to download forms to sign up for relief funds and apply for assistance. Give completed form to your job steward or line picket captain

“ To top it off, many of the same managers have been assigned to contingency training so if there is a strike will there be anyone available?”

The C-Suite can figure that out.

“Not that they would actually be able to step in for many of the roles if needed after training as most will be gone before union contract ends.”
100% accurate.

Management not located in one of the hubs has already been advised to start looking outside the company or retirement by their Leadership. To top it off, many of the same managers have been assigned to contingency training so if there is a strike will there be anyone available? Not that they would actually be able to step in for many of the roles if needed after training as most will be gone before union contract ends.

The OP mentioned “be given my 2 weeks notice”. The OP would be a manager as managers are the only employees that only have 2 weeks once notified they are surplussed before they are off payroll.

Just look at the warn act requirements. It won’t be hard to determine the next 20-50 staged 2024 layoff announcements. They are manipulating the law
