Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

SIPP is being offered today! Take it!

For the entitled group who complain how things were, please fill out the paperwork. Some of us still have young families to support and want to work and learn for our paycheck. Go to house and stop hiding behind seniority!

And nothing. Just goes to show there will not now or be again some package from the past. Those days are done and have been for 10 years at least. Personally, I’m not staying 1 day past my retirement eligibility date. Some of you will still be here talking about an offer with 60 years of service, nope. I’m out and enjoying myself while I still can and have my health.

The company is always hiring Wire Techs and Utility, quit whining. It may not be the job you want but you will stay employed until something else opens up.

All the techs with over 40 - 50 years that have been running their mouths about taking SIPP are quiet as mice?
Looks like we’re lucky, we can still learn about teletype and the pony express experience. The Town hall shared we have 8 employees with 50 years seniority. I feel so lucky being around cutting edge technology and lazy seniority as I let my family know I may be surplus. Another great union story!

I've been here 25 years and endured more that the OP will ever have to-- I will stay and look down upon those with very few years of service, who really have no intention of staying and make a career out of it. Then, after 5 more years, I will contemplate retiring. But only of there is a VAILD offer!

How many employees in the each of the 3 centers? Some of us outside are waiting for our number to be punched with SIPP.

Poor financial planning and no skills outside of T.

Would I qualify if I have 40 years seniority and in class last week I let everyone know. “I’m not going to tax my brain” ? The only skills I have is being lazy and complaining and watching everyone else what they are doing.

No, the only thing you will do is watch your job be moved very far away and then eliminated. Good bye.
You didn't get the message. Stankey wants 15-20 thousand non bargained employees gone. You are in that 15-20 thousand.
This is unfortunate for you, but really some of us are having a hard time caring about your plight.

Every time SIPP is offered these entitled crybabies come out of the woodwork and drop not so subtle comments that basically they think you’re old and should give up your job so they can keep theirs. What they don’t take into consideration is that young people stand a better chance in the job market than a person who is too young to retire, but too old to be considered for employment elsewhere. It’s always unfortunate when someone loses their livelihood, but no one gets up and goes to work everyday because it’s fun ….we all have our reasons for working and my financial situation is nobody’s business so STOP with the guilt tripping and judgments..it’s just the nature of the beast called seniority….

Three southeast centers were offered 11 SIPP positions each today. OP was correct. As a younger employee with a younger family I don’t buy into the constant complaining and told each of them with over forty years they are offering over 42k that can be spread out over four years for taxes. Since most only know how to complain and feel sorry for themselves, I guess we’ll have a surplus when we don’t get 33 volunteers.
I don’t disagree that 25+ years have earned you some choices in a union company. It doesn’t entitle you to watch everything to instantly spread the misery you feel.
Wow. All the whining about the job near six figures with benefits and they offer you an out. Shut the he-l up is my answer ongoing you crying baby. Go ahead and call the union. I pay my dues too.

I took the VSP off for 3 1/2 years ago was the best move I ever made so much more happier to get out of that he-l hole! My sentence was over!

Sounds like you are entitled. If someone has been here for 25+ years they get to choose what they want to do. At one point they were where you are today. Good luck, but that’s what seniority is for in a union job.

I would sign a SIPP, VTP or any other offer if AT&T would be willing to give the paper work to its employees! I am SO ready to leave this company and never look back! It's time for AT&T to pony up and give us the offer to leave with some dignity in hand!

The OP must have taken a sip on some really good $chitt, probably also toked a hit off a good pipe as well. Hey man, pass that $chitt around! I'm a dreamer too!
