Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Purchase of Verizon wireline assets

Real question If someone like brightspeed purchased Verizon wireline assets .Do all the assets people/divisions have to go with the sale or can Verizon decide to keep certain divisions / groups. Kind of like when Ma bell was broken up people chose to go with AT&T or stay with Bell upon the split

Any of you wireless clowns actually know how the traffic gets from tower to tower? Hint, it's not over the air.

Think about the fact that Big Red has sold off almost half a dozen companies that they purchased over the last 5 years. We have gone from 250K employees to a little over 100K. Many large corporate owned buildings are either completely empty or partially darkened.. Alpharetta Campus/closed, Tulsa OK only 1 out of 5 buildings are used, Temple Terrance in FL only one wing is being used - Hidden Ridge and Basking Ridge have buildings darkened. We can't even get rid of the commercial real estate. I would keep your options open - if you don't think the "Landline and company stores" will be impacted you are kidding yourself. Prepare as we will all be impacted.

Just like with Frontier in Florida. Texas and California. All and everything goes

you can tell this board has mainly northeast people. Outside of two states most of this network is not VZT but VZW.

Depends on what wireline you mean. The company is now pushing FWA which is fed by wireline circuits so to say wireline doesn’t generate as much profits as wireless might be true but that’s only half the truth. No way the company is going to sell off a part of the business that is not only 1/5 of the company revenue but also is structured in a way that strictly supports so much wireless traffic and major backbones. AT&T has wireline, BZ has wireline and word on the street is T-Mobile is interested in purchasing a wireline network.. if you don’t understand the tax breaks and huge contracts that come from wireline then don’t even comment.

So funny because most of the backbone is owned and operated by wireline.

Re : Post ID: @1kvo+1rEfmmzl ; definitely a lot of union bloat , but that is dwindling . I am sure someone would buy wireline .

So im not saying i do or dont think verizon is currently doing anything with wireline ,vzb or any group .But what I find funny is that people say they wont ever sell or should sell or what its worth or not worth. The fact is that every company at some point in time sells or merge or is lost.Nothing is forever no one knows when or how but ya eventually even Verizon wont be Verizon.

That is not true , the wireline sector only makes less then 5 percent of the profits for the company and they want to and will sell it off . The Bell Atlantic GTE merger started with 37 states and is down to just 7 in the Northeast . They want everything on 5G and buy selling wireline all future and past union pensions go with it . The wireline Northeast maybe is worth 5 billon , ten years ago was worth 15 billion . How could you say they need wireline . STOP LIVING IN THE PAST AND WAKE UP !

What is VZ even going to be if they get out of wireline? Everything is being offshored or pushed to contractors so at some point up to speed will be all that is left.

This is as silly as it gets....vz selling wireline is like a restaurant owner selling the kitchen with the cooks and expect better results....come on people get this board back to seriousness again and stop the silly posts

I mean i think the question was if not that they were selling. But truth is there has been tons of low key talk all over within the company. In addition to things going on at verizon that makes one wonder if they are gearing up for something along the lines of breaking up selling off divisions .The one thing everyone knows is nothing is the same forever .No company stays the same company for ever so !!Guess at some point everyone is correct .Even the guy said that verizon wont be called verizon one day

Wireless market is exhausted. Only way to make big money is through major government or business contracts which is mostly wireline. The network backbone of Business/office complexes, colleges, hospitals, airports, government, military bases, etc are wireline. Remote access backbone for corporations is wireline. Got TIRKS?

I like this is still talked about on this site but there has been absolutely no real indication that Verizon wants to sell part or all of its wireline assets.

Brightspeed or any buyer would probably wanna get out from under the union contract . Union sold out future hires back in early 2000’s contract , so many protected union employees are probably getting close to leaving .

Your choice would probably be work for new company or hit the bricks .

If Brightspeed execs smart enough, they should not take any people from Verizon.
