Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO - ATS (Legg) and Enterprise Business (Welday)

Just heard thru the grapevine that both of these organizations are now STRICTLY enforcing 5 days in the office. AT&T Business-CS&O (Townes org) is dropping the hammer on all departments this week and next. Sounds like ATS is pushing really hard to move everyone to Dallas somehow/someway, now or in the near future as well.

I'm not pro-union by any means (despise organized labor actually), but I hope both the West (D9) and and SE (D3) stick it to the company this go round. Scru Stankey and his bootlicking executives. Who cares anymore really. It would be worth it for the CWA to go out just log enough in both regions to disrupt the work lives of some of these GM's, AVP's and VP's who keep kicking this in-person collaboration cr-p down the road to us with a straight face.

Townes has been 5 days a week for months now. No hammer to drop.

Don't you think the VPs that all "retire" on Monday weren't really just told to leave?

“ The upside to this is that now I can just work 8a-5p each day and leave the PC and phone at the office.”
This is an upside for all involved. For most, consistent 8a-5p availability is double or triple remote output..

Sure buddy. Maybe you’d like to produce the data that backs your response up. The fact is, you can’t because that statement is BS. Always has been and will be.

Townes has been doing this since last year.

No one else is.

The end.

Legg and Welday are just mules for the cancer culture of SBC and a DEI and ESG obsessed c suite and BOD.

8 to 4. There is no lunch requirement. Work 8 and leave.

Im in Townes org and looking at the positives really. The upside to this is that now I can just work 8a-5p each day and leave the PC and phone at the office. Essentially a union tech being paid as a 2nd level. Thanks Chad!!!!

I can confirm OP’s info. I’m in Townes org and I’m looking at the email as I type from my manager last September when the in office expectation was bumped from 3 days a week to 5 days a week. There was also a subsequent follow up in February strongly advising compliance. If you’re in the Townes org and your group wasn’t included consider yourself fortunate.

Maybe not 5, but it definitely happening in Legg's org. Last year, RTO was a suggestion. Then in the summer it became 3 days in office as a requirement/very strong suggestion. Those who have been very bad at compliance have recently been told 5 days, and it would be checked on. The rest have been told 3 days mandatory, with disciplinary actions if not (see previous of people with 5 mandated.) A letter is given to those who have been out of compliance and subsequent noncompliance is subject to termination.

Strange how NOBODY in management L3 and above have been terminated. I guess T will be a company FULL of useless brainless yes men managers.

OP here. Can only post what I was told. If it’s not being enforced uniformly across various parts of ATS and Welday’s orgs then so be it. Just goes back to the cr-p communication of RTO and individual departmental expectations tacked on as a whole. All it’s doing is creating fear mongers, in-fighting and distrust across the board.

I’m in Welday’s org, and 3 days per week is asked for. On the sales side, a customer visit is considered an office day. Which is preferable? A day with sales in the office or the sales person with a customer?

Legg, won nothing. He is nothing more than the messenger. When he first came on, he presented the whole new bonus scheme so to make one think this was his idea.
He might be the good guy we all thought he was, but he gets his marching orders from above, and that is it. He has zero wiggle room, he simply does as he was told.
Morale is broke, that happened long before Legg

_____
Not true about ATS, but honestly it doesn’t matter, the org is ruined. Make it 7 days and base it out of Mars for all we care. Morale is broken in the Legg org. He won.

It's been mandatory 5 days a week since September 5th, we even get reports on how we're doing and a hint at how other orgs are doing. How is any of this surprising to people?

There are business territory sales people that aren’t even remotely living in or near the same city they are supposed to be selling to. Account Managers that live half a state away or more from their customers. It’s a joke, managers turn their heads. These people book rental cars, hotel rooms and submit mileage just to get to their territory.

OP - not sure where you heard that, but I'm in the Legg org, and we are still 3x per week. Nothing has been mentioned about any changes. Obviously that can change, but right now it hasn't.
