Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Next Round Layoffs April 15th?

I saw this in another forum: April 15th is the next round of layoffs. This is also the last day for folks impacted on Feb 15th. Also read where part of the Splunk acquisition outlines Cisco cannot layoff Splunk employees for 36 mos.

Anyone else hearing the same?

At $28B Cisco paid more than $3.7M per employee. You'd think they'd want to get as much as they can from each employee after that kind of cost.

The employees are not the only thing Cisco got out of that purchase. Splunk software & proprietary knowledge/practices, customers, physical assets like real estate, computing hardware, etc.

Your math isn't "mathing".

This is absolutely not happening and anybody who knows how to read Cisco tea leaves can easily figure this out. First, they would not do this and have Cisco Beat a full ten days later. Second, they would not do this and have Illuminate start the next day. They understand optics.

With Splunk folks safe for three years, it can only be bad news for Cisco employees.

Embedded in your assertion is the understanding that the rest of Cisco's employees are unable to do what is needed to integrate Cisco's and Splunk's capabilities to produce something greater than the sum of the parts.

In order to get your end of year bonus, you must work through the last day of the fiscal year. If they are doing another round of LRs on May 15, then 60 days would be mid-July as last day of employment and these people will not get their end of year bonus and.....we (US and Canada) have to take mandatory PTO the week of July 4th which reduces the PTO overhead Cisco will have to payout to the same people impacted May 15th.

If your coffee hasn't woken you up this morning, THIS ^ should!

How about August? Are they trying to not pay the end of year bonus?

Its a show, no need math no need business strategy. Just make sure the leader group get as much as they can before the last drop of Spisco juice. We IC just a number not the player.

I can't find the final number but using questionable reporting saying Splunk had 8,000 employees at the beginning of 2023 and was laying off 500 late in 2023, let's just say they had 7,500 employees. At $28B Cisco paid more than $3.7M per employee. You'd think they'd want to get as much as they can from each employee after that kind of cost.

With Splunk folks safe for three years, it can only be bad news for Cisco employees. As Splunk merges, employees roles will slowly be taken over by Splunk folks and Cisco employees booted out. There is absolutely no way to increase labor force without showing productivity gains. Hard times ahead.

This is very poor merger contract that only helps Splunk. Not a good sign for Cisco to expect continuity in employment. More stress ahead.

Splunk did a good job to protect their engineer. When Cisco sold SPVSS to Synamedia we got LR'd in half year.
Cisco can not LR Splunk folks, the axe only can aim to Cisco folks.
