the scorecard and not to the bottom line. It's what they do, it's all they know. Hammer meets nail. Someone is outside of the box and crushing it they don't know what to do with that person, they are an outlier on charts and must be tamed.

There is little to no reward for trying to manage for what is best for the company. There was never really a direct financial reward, but there was sense of doing the best and right thing. Pride, not being ashamed to tell anyone what company you work for.
Now the sense of pride is mostly gone, the soul of working for a great company is gone. It’s dog eat dog team by team, region by region, dept by dept, division by division. Each area down to teams of 10 mostly now do what they can for a good paper/spreadsheet appearance, and there are very few bodies left that feel a sense of pride for AT&T. That sense of pride is what drives individuals, teams, depts, and divisions to all make business smart behaviors. In the past if two things are going to accomplish the same goal and result, sense of pride employees would choose the one that is best for AT&T overall to get that result. Now it feels people go out of their way to choose a path that still accomplishes the metric/spreadsheet goal so they can stay employeed, but is the worst choice for the company. Almost vindictive mentalities across so many areas of the company (and I interface with a lot of different divisions). The pride has been replaced with a sense of what feels more like a “let it burn” approach. It is scary as I don’t want to see this place burn.
But I don’t see how this will change in our current heading. I’m to the point of now too believing it will take a changing out of a significant portion of leadership to reinspire or get people to make better ‘for the company’ decisions. Otherwise deterioration and death by a thousand cuts continues, all we become in the long run is a wholesale network provider.
VP's are part of the system and must kiss the hand of Stank to get approved. Defiantly not GM's (Dir & AVP) since the dime a dozen. GM level is worthless.
LDP’s
Mr. “Huh?” Just don’t get it.
Keep on scratching your head.
