Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Excuse the rant please

A colleague who contributes almost nothing has avoided being laid off twice in the last year. The astounding thing is that each time he was able to get a higher level position last minute and is now at a Director level. The guy is known to hit on male colleagues and imply they will benefit career wise if they do things with him outside of work. Generally has a reputation for doing things like this and is a total creep. He contributes absolutely nothing and acts completely entitled, simply delegating everything to his team and spends all his time networking. He refused to go back to the office and feels he is above everyone and should be allowed to work from home, which is a joke since he is also known to spend much of the day running personal errands. Especially as a "leader", how do you get away with just refusing to go back into the office while your employees are forced to? How on earth does this happen when skilled hard working people who aren't creeping on employees get laid off? What has happened to the culture?

I have a little over 12 months until I can pay for COBRA until I'm eligible for Medicare. That's not to say I'm coasting, but it is a target where a layoff starts to become less of a problem. Health insurance is the benefit that is most important to me.

This is not the same company that I joined years ago. On the upside, we've made the turn past several executives that put their personal interests far above the shareholders or employees. On the downside, we've focused way too much on ESG, DEI, DEI-hires, and performing a post-COVID doublespeak that would make George Orwell proud. The amount of money that we spend on causes that do not generate revenue boggles the mind.

If he is a director, he is exempt- it’s not time theft and he most certainly has a medical accommodation preventing the company from requiring his in office presence.

What is concerning is the quid pro quo s-xual harassment that you described. If you have not reported it, then you answered your question of how someone gets away with it…

Second calling the EthicsLine. Report dude for time theft. Nothing will come of it. The case will get reviewed and determined to be insufficient evidence or unsubstantiated but might make you feel a tiny bit better. I have someone on my team that I can’t wait to report on my way out eventually. She logs like 50% of the PTO she takes.

He’s probably done things to get where he is and is holding it over someone’s head.

Tell on him. Call the ethics line

:@yhz+1rMNtxIP - just stop. Most of the do nothing networkers who do nothing yet get promoted anyway are white males

The totality of complaints on this website about employees are fundamentally the result of a decades long abandonment of HR as a real discipline.

100% blame goes to the board/CEO for failing to appreciate how a strong HR department can provide enormous shareholder value.

Wells is a 'who you know' and not a 'what you know' company. Su-ks to work here and try to make an impact.

It's long past time to fight back in the only way these creeps get: lawyer up. Check out America First Legal, one of the only organizations supporting the rights of everyone, not just minorities.

Probably better off using this energy to find a better role. The role and company wasn't a great fit and you explored roles elsewhere. You'll be much happier.

Most of them are like this in Wellsfargo including Charlie. Obsolete technology and process. All guys that were under performing in chase get a job here and they come here to continue their sleep. Every meeting is boring with personal agenda and lies about their accomplishments. Work for money u get paid and ignore them.
