Historically people and families go to the oil, oil does not come to you. Yes, it is very disruptive to marriages, families and difficult for the children. I was raised in the oil patch in Casper Wyoming. New families to town stayed in motels for months with kitchettes, local grade schools were under construction all over town. The first Christmas was in the two-room hotel off East Yellowstone Hwy, the attached restaurant served fried chicken on Christmas Day and was open 24 hours a day. The bars on Main Street were also open 24 hours a day, serving hard li---r, greasy tavern food and working ladies after the deep pocket money. The town talk the OIL BO-M in Salt Creek, Teapot Dome, and Sussex will never end, but it did; it moved on to the next find farther north. Children jerked out of school, and family belongs shipped down the road to the next rooming house, motel or if you were lucky a house. Company towns sprang and were everywhere. You sign on for oil you are going to live in many towns, and some are not so nice, and work for many companies. Word of advice contribute the max to your 401K and don't accumulate
Wells should produce forever then.
Fossil fuels are renewable. Do you think hydrocarbons stopped being generated at a discrete point in time?
XOM does not care. You either move where the job is or look for another one.
