Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Best thing to have happened to me, and others

I left T in 2022. No plan, no "other job", no back up plan. The motivation was not to lose 40% of my pension.
Best decision I've ever made. After 4 job interviews, I was able to leverage my experienced gained at T after 24 years and got hired on the spot.
There is life after T... you just need to make the jump. DO IT!!! You'll thank yourself for making the jump.

P.S... Yes, I check this forum from time to time to reflect on what I left behind. I also want to encourage those of you on the the edge of making a life changing decision. DO IT!!!!!

God-bless.

I quit AT&T and got a job at Burger King. Love the smell after mopping the floor.

"OP- What industry did you go into?
Congratulations to you!"

I'm still in IT and working for a credit union.

Best thing to have happened to me, and others would be for the Stink to leave! All our problems might disappear if the BoD named anyone else to replace the PoS!

"...no one else has medical/pension like I have with T."

Well pensions for the most part are and have been over for some time now. So you really shouldn't expect that going forward.

I'm management, and I am aware the bargained for medical coverage is superior to what they offer us...but as far as that goes, it's pretty horrible. And I'm REALLY tired of being told how great it is. It is not "industry leading". I know a lot of people. I always ask them about their coverage through their employer. Ours is subpar in every category. Cost, deductibles, etc. My child just started their first job out of college (large employer) and the medical coverage she has is so much better than ours it's staggering. So please...just stop telling me how great it is.

Glad it’s worked out for you but I’m staying for severance then I’ll start the job hunt. Won’t be long because a relocation decision is coming. I’m not letting the failures of the leadership team to drive me away without being fairly compensated for my many years of service and I’ll continue to earn a paycheck until it happens.

I get the reasons so many are ready to leave, toxicity and mental health are big issues along, with RTO, relocating, etc...

So did I. Would have lost $350k if I didn’t leave. Luckily I was able to retire. Now volunteer and not under so much stress. AT&T did me well, but at the end, they squeezed me too much.

I have full benefits with the new company. They pay for all benefits. Nothing comes out of my check. And... they have a pension!!!

There are opportunities out there. You have to make that leap!!! Do it!
