Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Does anyone else feel like.......

  • not going the extra mile to get things done?
  • doing the bare minimum to stay under the radar?
  • not innovate and try to benefit AT&T?
  • coast along, collecting a paycheck knowing the end is near?
  • hoping to get a package so you can leave this sheethole?
  • your manager has also thrown in the flag?
  • your managers manager is trying to host CMO and FMO calls to determine why they are failing?

I could go on and on and on, feel free to add your own.

I can swear on a stack of bibles all the extra efforts are destroyed by non employees who only giggle when you bring defects to them. It’s so stupid!

I was also aged out and sc--wed out of some big $$ (Ameritech Management) I was glad I was able to retire at 62 and thankful I got the 6 month package. Really wasn't the right way for T to handle it but I have gotten many friends to leave AT&T to pay back their evil ways.

I went the extra mile for this whole past year (highest rated in my job title for the market) and only got a 1% raise due to being moved into Tier 3 for my job title in the previous year.

Fu-k this place.

There’s no reason to go the extra mile for this company. They have zero loyalty to any of us and could care less about any of us doing hard work. They just want their phony metrics to look good on a spreadsheet and don’t care about actual quality work.

My position does not allow me the luxury of doing the bare minimum, I figure if I'm taking the paycheck I'll delivery that's the extent of the contract with AT&T I also have performance based incentives so much better for me personally to stay employed and work than to take a 6 month package-I do occasioanlly post and interview for jobs outside of AT&T and expect I'll move to another company in the next 1-2 years

"I would recommend being a better employee so you are not forced out."

Follow the work has nothing to do with work competency. Many employees are being forced out because they will not uproot their families from the location they were originally hired to move to a temporary hub city with not guarantee of continued employment once you move . . . and the employee has to bear the expense of the move. You do not have wonder what the company thinks about its employees when they would rather pay you to leave the company verses pay you to move and stay with the company.

You will probably will not find anything better once you leave AT&T. I would recommend being a better employee so you are not forced out. With your attitude, you deserved to be forced out.

Hard to do anything when your boss and leadership gives zero direction. I do my best work when there are attainable measurements set but I've asked my boss for the past 6 months what are mine and has be unable or incapable of doing so.

Truth be told, you have never been going the extra mile and have been doing the bare minimum for years.

Those around me tried hard, and then the company cut them down. All because they were close to retirement.

Anyone who works hard at a corporate gig is a schmuck, unless you have skin in the game (stock options) and authority to control.your destiny your in no better position than some slacker. All labor is just a cost on the balance sheet.a replaceable widget..

I always thought everyone at this place was lazy and lacked discipline. This is not a new thing.
