Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Tick Tock, 6 days left D9

Time to mobilize and prepare to walk, contact your local steward and ask about selecting your time assignment and picket location. CP can handle it for a while, some think we are unskilled and useless. Let’s find out!

For me, a month or two stoppage would be great, I’m prepared for 6 months or more but my wife will ki-l me with her list if I’m off that long. She wants the bathroom and kitchen renovated, I’d rather pay someone, Lol. Besides, the government would step in if it goes very long at all, critical national comms and emergency services are at stake.

At least I'm protected by a contract while you're out with a tap on the shoulder. It's only a matter of time before you're gone... tick tock.

"That’s great, everyone wants a forced move or severance instead of long term job security."

Your reading and comprehension skills are sorely lacking.

@gud+1rPHOacn is clearly pointing out the union membership has protections under article 2.

There is no such thing as job security in the union or management work force but at least their contract places restrictions or directives on the company in terms of layoffs.

“You're right but at least we have a set of rules spelling out how forced movements and surpluses are performed including severance and relocation expenses related to those actions unlike management's RTO process.”

Rules ..lol. That’s great, everyone wants a forced move or severance instead of long term job security. You are buying what the union is selling, unfortunately you miss the big picture , like the vast majority of members, very sad but true.

There is nothing they can do to prevent layoffs, geographic job reassignment, increased costs and no long term job security.

Union negotiations are like hugging sand. There is nothing they can do to prevent layoffs, geographic job reassignment, increased costs and no long term job security. No matter what union leadership would like you believe, feel free to actually read what will be negotiated, it will leave you sick to your stomach.

ooooh more talk from the union. don't worry they have management trained to replace you while you got out on a one or two day strike and then it will be settled and all is good.

meanwhile they got rid of the mangers who refuse to work the strike.

Another Data breach. Will America Corporations ever realize moving jobs off shore is the best way to have ongoing Data Breach issues - when labor is CHEAP - everything is Cheap - especially payoff for access

The last post in quotes, is from justia.com

I believe the 60 days of bargaining are up so the union can file for an unfair labor practice at https://www.fmcs.gov/. At the most, they can wait till contract expiration then file with the federal mediation and conciliation service, they have up to 30 days to file.

Can we just go ahead and file an unfair labor practice then strike now since the company won’t bargain or agree to anything? That’s called bad faith bargaining. Why wait?

“ Bad Faith in Collective Bargaining
It is also an unfair labor practice for an employer to refuse to be involved in good-faith collective bargaining. Employers are supposed to negotiate with a union before making alterations to wages, hours, or working conditions of a bargaining union unless the union prevents the agreement from being reached or there are economic exigencies requiring speedy action. They are supposed to meet with unions at reasonable times and should not modify any collective bargaining agreement without union consent.”
