NRE or RE?

My 55th birthday is in November. Am I considered NRE or RE for the ranking assessment?

During last several years, before the interest rate hike, almost everyone is taking lump sum. How about now? It's fvcked up to retire in 2024 instead of 2022. Two years of free labor. So sad...

  1. 5 means nothing for pension.

Everything is based on age 60.

Pension is reduced 25% for taking at 55.
You can retire at 55 and wait to claim pension to get 100%.

The reduction is not the same for lump sum. Use the calculator to see.

  1. 5 is when you can withdraw from IRA without penalty. Does not apply to EM savings. See "IRS Rule of 55"

You receive 75% of your pension at age 55 (assumes 15 years of service). If you want to receive 100% of your pension, you must work to 59 1/2 years old.

You will always be able to roll over 100% of your 401K to another 401K or an IRA regardless of your age (assumes you work in the United States).

Non-US countries have different retirement plans.

RE is 15 years service and age 55, NRE is within 3 years of that. So if you started at age 42, you’d be RE at 57.

A significant percentage of employees are strongly encouraged to retire when they turn fifty five. Fifty five is the "new" retirement age in ExxonMobil.

If your age is 55+ in December, you are RE.

They can PIP you and your first day of retirement will be DEC1
