Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I left a good job to join AT&T

Three years ago I left a decent job in a company with a good culture to join AT&T. Now I feel like I'm working in a circus run by monkeys. Chasing a "brand" name I thought would help my career at best and look good on my resume at worst sc--wed me over majorly.

Did you not look at the stock before coming over. It was 45 and now it's like 15 and hovering. Also 3 years ago the CEO got the boot in a pretty public manner. Last and final we had activist investors that entered ATT (Never a good sign). Sorry to hear you made the move but the facts were right at your fingertips.

Do your homework before you make career moves. None of AT&Ts missteps should have come as a surprise.

On you. A simple reading of this sight 3-4 years ago would have given you the proper perspective to not walk away from your old job. No reason to come here and cry about it now.

You thought you could come to a big company, just do the minimal and get paid. Now you are disappointed that is not the case.

I escaped the T funny farm a few yrs back then went to work for for a real/successful Fortune 500 company.
I'm now a VP and more than tripled my salary. Fully paid HC with no deductible, $5 co-pay, not an Advantage Plan & stipend of $10k to spend any way I wish. I use it for cell service, internet, lease car, golf fee, travel etc.
There is life after at&t death. Suggest everyone do what's best for them - but at least investigate.

The CEO doesn’t expect you to stay more than 5 yrs. Time to start planning your next move.
