Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Townes Town Hall

Chads new employee reminded me of the Fred Armisen character from the old SNL skit the Californians. He said like more times then a 13 yo girl and called someone Bro. Also, stop telling us we’re better together, we’re not

Why would I come into an office where no one talks to me except over teams? And the woman around the corner doesn’t know how to turn off her speakerphone.

One guy asked Townes about finding people to replace employees who were not near a hub.

Townes said he was confident there was plenty of "talent" in Atlanta, Dallas, etc.

Funny, no mention was made of experience, institutional knowledge, systems knowledge, strong relationships... the things that make a collection of people into a company.

It never occurred to him.

When our "leaders" (using the term very loosely) say "our people are our greatest asset," or something equally disingenuous, they don't seem to know the definition of "people."

To them, people = headcount. Nothing more or less. Sociopathic, when you think about it.

Nobody in an executive position at T wants honest feedback. It’s bootlicker central and CYA all the way up the chain of command.
