Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

"You should never hire someone who was ever laid off"

This is a quote from good 'ol Elon Musk, someone our Leaders try to mimic. The effect this has on peoples lives is heavy. What a privileged A**hole.

The fact is, at Wells, layoffs are just another we-pon to be used against those who happen to not be a favorite. For this reason, and many others, you should not hesitate to open an ER case if it's warranted in these times, b/c unscrupulous managers will lay you off as it's the easiest way to get rid of non-favorites.

Layoffs are usually based on demographics, sprinkled with some "real" people they want laid off. Sneaky people are putting negative words into managers' ears all year to bias the manager against a scapegoat. You can be great @ your job & be a scapegoat or in the demographic chosen by HR to be on the chopping block as it needs to be a representation of equal parts and ages of the team /org population. The sneaky, lazy ones usually always survive. They've been backstabbing the high performers all year.

This is objectively false. Wake up. Educate yourself on the truth.
Or, continue to believe what MSM or your friends/family tell you.
Your choice.

"What nonsense. If five people out of 5000 are laid off, sure there might be a reason to wonder how those five were chosen.

When the factory closes because the work is being moved to China - not so much.

Musk laid off most of the management team at Twitter because he could. Were they all poor performers? I don’t think so."

Musk is the problem - not them.

There is some truth to this. Typically a company is smart to shed their poor performers in a layoff and that is often what happens in smaller operations or well thought out layoffs.

I’m eventually going to fall victim to a location strategy layoff despite maintaining a team that demolishes the teams doing the same work elsewhere.

I’m am going to have to prep myself to be able to explain this in a tactful way in future interviews as the bias against laid off employees has at least some merit to it.

Another thing to think about is many ‘fired with cause’ type employees say their were “laid off” when in interviews and end up bringing their same negative behaviors to their next company creating a bad rap for truly laid off applicants.

Do you have the direct link to this quote? I looked into it and only see a spokesperson saying that.

If true, even more reason to detest him

That should be the population that's most grateful to be back in the game. Ask me how I know. :)
