Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Matt Urbanski, who cleans 40 squatted homes a month: I’d be terrified in Atlanta to lease out one of my properties.

I rented a place recently in Atlanta to prepare for a move for RTO. I lost my deposit I think. The condo I rented was rented to me was subletted to me by a squatter. I signed a contract for a year lease, paid my deposit. I was contacted by the condo owner who says they actually own the property and I can't move there because they have relatives currently looking to live there. I don't know who is real, because the condo owner is coming off looking like a squatter too. What if I was buying a place and it was a squatter? Then I googled and found how massive of a problem it is in Atlanta. This is a nightmare and now I'm out of precious money I couldn't afford to spend to begin with to keep this job.

Squatters discussing Atlanta:

*Theres a lot of good abandoned houses. Especially with so many LLCs buying homes to hold as they fall into disrepair. The hard part about squatting is always utilities. Sometimes you can be lucky enough to find a place with utilities on. *

I guess a clear cut sign of the police force, is whether they will defend your property, which is a constitutional right of government. Since they aren’t, don’t expect your basic daily rights to be defended. Atlanta and surrounding areas are one of the worst in the nation for squatters rights, second to NY.

Since most of these homes are owned by institutional investors, it is hard not to side with the squatters. Who will a jury sympathize with, a poor immigrant family or Blackrock?

Sounds pretty typical of life in the ATL. Look on the bright side, your car has not been stolen yet.

I’m in Atlanta. Squatters live on either side of me. It’s a nightmare

Sorry for joking, but squatters sound like a number of posters here:
"By golly, they're going to have to PAY ME to leave.!"

I would suggest renting an apt as opposed to a condo. It is very difficult to "squat" in an apt complex. Did the OP tour the condo b4 signing and paying the $$$? Good luck

Why not just be a squatter in another property and stop worrying?

This is genius. A squatter option instead of a relo package (or lack thereof) would save employees and the company a ton of money.

Governor Kemp is about to sign a new squatter law which gives the rights back to the owner in a much quicker time.

I almost do not feel sorry for the investment companies who scooped up properties, beating out actual personal purchasers; it's part of your business risk. I do feel sorry for owners who are trying to rent out their own (one house), but honestly, it's probably easier and less hassle to sell it. Because even if you do get a legit renter, they can turn around and "sublet" it to someone else, and now they've become a squatter since often the original renter is pocketing the money instead of passing it to the owner.

Given the explosion of squatter issues and the forced relocations, it is really unacceptable that T is providing no help or guidance in relocating and at least providing some guidance on how to avoid these squatter situations. I'm so glad to be getting out of this dysfunctional corporation in a few weeks. Hope everything works out for people who may fall prey to this situation.

The Mossberg 590 Shockwave is a 7-shot at $470 at Bass Pro Shop for tight quarters. I prefer the 590 9-shot at $500. It comes with a pi---l grip. The Mariner might be a better choice if the thing is gonna get wet. If you like dazzle, set the first two shots to be dragon's breath but watch out for starting a fire. Mossberg makes a reliable product. Also reliable is a Glock handgun of which BPS has many in stock.

Have a Good Day sir

We have long term squatters in the C Suite offices - one of them left a Stankey that just won't flush.
