Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

When is it going to be enough?

Why are managers allowed to mistreat and abuse their employees? HR is consistently turning a blind eye to their behavior. I know HR is there to protect the company before anything else, but this is becoming ridiculous. There's being a tough manager and then there's being a certified bully. Verizon is overflowing with the latter one.

HR will do nothing for you and someone in an earlier reply had HR and integrity within the same sentence. There is no integrity, ethical behavior or moral compass at this company. Never involve HR, even confidential conversations are repeated to your immediate manager. HR has no understanding of confidentiality. The yearly evaluations mean nothing. I was rated above the majority of my 28 years. The yearly form you prepare for the following years evaluation are only used to get rid of employees. If you stir up too much, they will create your personal metrics so they are unattainable and use this to move you out. I have witnessed this many times. If you obtain a lawyer, this is why VZ has many lawyers and will also outsource to the best in the field. All you will do is spend money on attorney fees and receive no severance, since part of the package is agreeing not to sue. It is a no win situation.

HR protects the company. The company pays them, not you. Of course they will say things that seem like you’re their interest but you don’t pay them a dime. The company does.

You protect yourself. You can leave, get a lawyer or su-k it up.

Talk to an employment attorney. Will probably ask you for your 3 past evaluations. Write a letter on your behalf. And then let you know if you need them to contact them again. Usually bully manager will backoff.

Yes. It happened to me and the manger got away with it several times. My experience was not an isolated incident. HR did nothing about it.

Bullies often become successful. There also seems to be a real issue with people taking things way too personally at this company and everywhere. Maybe there is a reason HR isn’t taking hr complaint seriously?

Try talking to a lawyer, the eeoc, or similar state government employee agency and see what they say about the complaint.

Maybe try that spring health app and see what they say.

Never go to HR. Zero retaliation policy is total BS. Document everything! Date, time and who said/did what. Download the org chart. Break it down by race, gender and age. If you are RIFd, consult with an employment lawyer.

They are retaliating against employees leaving at this point. It’s quite scary to even think about. HR is not there for you. They are not even acting with integrity at this point. It is easier to lie to yourself than to admit you are part of the problem. The culture has gotten so out of control. The company used to be something to be proud of. The fees and bate and switch activity is going to catch up.

@smw+1rSZ01K2 Protect management!! You mean like save them from rifs, loss of pension and health benefits? If that’s their job they aren’t doing it very well.

HR is here to only protect management. And if you did go to them to report your Manager you have made it to top of next RIF list. Even if there was no need for RIF in the team. They will tell you your position got eliminated but reopen it in 6 months because of "work increase".

Stop looking to HR to do anything for you. You are not even required to talk to HR before you sue the company. Go straight to an employment attorney.
