Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

EAP > GAP > CPDX

So we shuffled once more and I was worried about the change but so far I am happy with the reorg. Not a huge impact for our group. We get JC which is good. We get WM which is good only because he seems to be a push over and is overwhelmed with our former GAP org so we get to walk all over him.
What do people think the phase 2 layoff impact will be for us?

Which one platform from GAP, they have many duplicate platforms. They don’t know what is needed or can deliver. Service platform and NPE in works for almost 5 years.

All the data and analytics platforms wasting millions of $.

New leader JC and his crew responsible for renewing everything and starting similar capabilities since he joined.

Nike needs a working tech platform to standardize and reduce costs. We should try the one from GAP.

GAP - bloated, wastage of $. Leaders are clueless. You can change the name of org, fact remains.

I am in product in a GT team. I don’t know what any of the acronyms in the post are and I don’t know who WM is. From reading this thread, I wish you the best of luck in phase 2 layoffs. It sounds like you have a new leader that people like but is ineffective and a product that no one uses.
Good luck!

WM was our interim leader for a while and everyone liked him. He was not an effective leader for us though so best of luck to your new org.

GAP is extremely bloated. A lot of people who do nothing of value. I’ve been in the org for a few years now. Leadership is aware, cuts are imminent.

This org has previously invested in the development of numerous products that ultimately proved to be unwanted and were subsequently divested. NPE will be one such offering. Currently, there appears to be a lack of clear vision among the leadership, compounded by a lack of alignment within the organization. The expenditure of significant effort and talent in such endeavors raises questions about their strategic rationale. Moreover, the decision to pursue multiple iterations of the same product suggests a potentially inefficient allocation of resources, posing challenges for business teams.

Naming your product after a famous Java error (NullPointerException) wasn't the best idea.

Don’t let WM’s pleasant demeanor and charm fool you - he’s bright and not the pushover you think he is. Mistaking kindness & politeness for being an easy pushover is a mistake. He’s a good guy so always starts by giving benefit of the doubt but if you prove him wrong he will standup and do what’s needed. I’d take him as a leader any day!

I'm a little suspect of NPE. It's been worked on and built for years, but there are only a few production workloads running on it. Seems like a waste of money to me.
