Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

D-mb move

Why have separate financial reporting for foundry when you know it's making losses. It's like putting the dirty laundry out on public display.

Multiple reasons, as stated in earlier posts, they are required to disclose such loses, this is a precursor to splitting off manufacturing from design, and I think it will help justify the right sizing of the workforce right after the horrible Q1 earnings report that will be out in a few weeks.

They had to - spinning off the fab as their own business requires it.
Even though they deny this is the goal.

After one more year, they will say oh sorry they made another wrong decision so move on and they will lead again.

Intel accounting is full of shenanigans.

They made the depreciation schedule 8 years up from 5 and so the financials as EVEN WORSE.

For comparison, TSMC still has a 5 year schedule.

In order to become a foundry and show that it runs independently of the rest of Intel, you have to separate it out. Without that transparency and internal process alignment it will be even more difficult to have bigger customers sign up. Customers need to be sure that this foundry thing is not a side project (like it has been for past few times)

Arrogance of Pat to prove his IDM 2.0 will be big business going forward. He doesn't know that without big whale customers IFS will bleed money with under utilization of fabs.
