Does anyone know when people at the West end Center (WEC) in Winston Salem will be affected by location strategy-which wave?

Wachovia ruined First Union LOL.... its the other way around my friend. Ken Thompson and his quest to Dominate the West Coast (i.e. the Golden State Bank Fiasco) is what ki-led the rebranded First Union. The First Union brand was despised by customers so they bought another bank and took the name. Legacy Wachovia was a solid Regional Bank before FUNB and should have stayed that way.

WEC lease ends Sep 2025. Servers have to be out by june 2025.

My guess any remaining people will be out by June 2025.

Depending on group there will be some relos but who knows how many as reduced US headcount is the goal.

But most folks need to prepare for a new job.

The legacy Wachovia blue folks deserve better. First Union and Wells Fargo - what a disastrous pair.

Better WEC than CLT. Wachovia ruined First Union. We should have never done the merger. The confusing part is the Wachovia FTE's thought that they were in charge, because First Union was rebranded as Wachovia. I didn't meet many people from Wachovia that I liked. The same with Wells Fargo. It's a loser company. Offshoreing jobs to India is their priority.

sad that Winston Salem was the home of Wachovia before First Union in Charlotte ruined the name and bank.

WEC. I heard 3 waves. May, August 2024 and February 2025? Anyone heard anything different?

The people I had to displace there were due to location strategy, period. They were all good people and I could not get any of them an exception to work out of Charlotte. A few wanted to.

The lease is up late next year. People have to be out by May 2025 to allow time for the building to be returned to a saleable state.

There have been layoffs already at WEC. Usually a two or three people at a time. But, those may not be tied to location strategy and instead be a result of other 'right-sizing' measures.

WEC data center is going away (next year?). I don't know what else is there but I'd bet it's going to close and people have to relocate or get laid off.

Speaking of data centers. We're so obsessed with expenses but we're building entirely new data centers in totally different cities. I don't get how the F that makes any sense (unless they're completely out of space in existing centers which is another issue - like shut things down FFS)

Gone, no relo. They have targets they need to hit and there is more than enough in non core, non specialty sites, so this will be centrally - policy driven.

It's not looking good. I don't know any deets, but yeah, it's a matter of time and whether or not the company will allow anyone to escape to other locations.

I had to displace employees from Winston this year. I have been told Winston is closing altogether by some point in 2025.
