Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Beat the location strategy...

If you are offered the opportunity to relocate, say YES. You will have 1 YEAR to relocate.

During this time, look for another remote job.

When you find the new remote job, work both that job and your WF job.

When the 1 year is up for your relo, resign or let them fire you.

Not a bad idea. I’d rather have the time to find a job and ignore severance as I’m kind of new here also.

They are not offering relocation financial assistance, nor will they guarantee you will not be severed once you move as they continue offshoring. Have heard from a few people they were asked if they would consider relocation with a "wink wink" to not really do it.

I also agree with the others that 60 days non-working then severance seems like a better deal.

This is not a bad strategy if your severance is low bc of short tenure.

You're not "out" a severance...you just took a full year of it in that scenario. So, yeah.

You sure as heck better have found a job by then, because if you don't move at that point your a$$ is grass, and you're out of likely notice AND severance.

Very few relocations will be offered, was told that by our HR exec … only one I know of was asked to move from Calif. to NYC, he said no, so his days are numbered

You forfeit the severance package then.

Nope. I get a year severance plus 60 days. That does work for me.

This stresses people out as much as the long commute they will have to make. They basically said on the tech q and a that teams should work with managers to reprioritize work as others leave/are kicked out. Most people are already working overtime and few roles are backfilled. It will be rough for those who stay.

I think as they start to whittle people out this year via severance, termination or retirement, those remaining will have a fair amount of work to do and the pressure will be on to produce more than ever.

But, you do you!

I assume you give up severance if you agree to relocate. And, you'd be required to work for that year. The package +60 days non-working notice sounds like a better deal.
